Toscana Hotel, a plottage of 2,1026㎡, has 61 rooms and four two-story Pool villas. There are various types of rooms: Standard Accommodation room for comfortable and cozy stay, Presidential Suite Accommodation room which presents superb view of Jeju, Royal Suite Accommodation room providing especial comfort for VIP guests, and so on. Also the four Pool Villas have spacious pools, and the villa becomes a special, healing place for couples and families especially.        

The dining service and amenities of the hotel are worth notice. The restaurant ‘Trattoria’ has modern and comfortable space harmonized with the nature-friendly scenery outside the restaurant windows. The menu consists of dishes made from fresh, natural food materials of Jeju, and each of food is made with special care of the best chef. <더봄> 편집팀과 토스카나 실무진들이 토스카나 호텔 로비 커피숍에서 대화를 나누었다.

프리미엄 브띠끄라 불리는 호텔의 지배인과 팀장이라기보다는 오랜만에 만난 동네 친한 친구 같았다. 약간의 서먹함이 드리우는가 싶으면 재치 있는 입담으로 분위기를 바꿔줬다. 

누구든지 토스카나에서 이 사람들과 함께라면 즐거울 것이다. 호텔 로비에서 이분들을 만난다면 

인사를 나누고 안부를 물어라. 그 친화력과 사려 깊음에 단번에 사로 잡힐 것이다.

The manager and the operations chief of the premium boutique hotel were like our old friends. Whenever there was some awkward silence among us, they immediately feel the silence with their funny and pleasant words. Whoever together with them would be happy. When you meet them at the hotel lobby, say ‘hello,’ and ‘how are you?’ to them. You will be attracted to their friendliness and thoughtfulness.

토스카나라는 이름의 뜻과 그렇게 지은 이유를 설명해주세요.

김창우 경영지원팀장: 토스카나는 이탈리아 지방 도시로 중세 말기 유럽 르네상스 문화 예술의 중심지였다. 이곳은 미켈란젤로, 보카치오, 단테의 흔적이 남아있으며 소설 <트와일라잇> 을 비롯해 영화와 공연의 배경이 되었던 곳으로 많은 이들의 사랑을 받고 있다. 제주 토스카나 호텔은 예술가들의 활동 무대였던 토스카나의 품격과 예술을 그대로 옮겨 오고자 한 마음에서 붙여진 이름이다.

특별히 제주에 호텔을 짓게 된 이유가 있다면

윤영희 지배인:  이미 언론을 통해 보도된 것처럼 시아준수와 그 가족들의 제주도에 대한 사랑은 남다르다. 시아준수의 가족들은 편히 쉴 수 있는 공간을 가지고 싶었는데 마침 제주도 여행에서 우연치 않게 들린 이곳의 신비로움과 아름다움에 매료되었다. 그리고 가족뿐만 아니라 여러 사람들과 특별한 추억을 만들자는 생각으로 호텔을 오픈하게 되었다.

사소한 인테리어에도 많이 심혈을 기울인 듯하다. 가장 신경 쓴 부분은?

정은호 총괄지배인: 토스카나 호텔은 이미 제주도라는 이름만으로 훌륭한 인테리어다. 한라산과 활오름이 펼쳐진 산등성과 밭등성을 가로질러 토스카나를 향하다보면, 그 아름다움에 매료된다. 돌담길을 끼고 들어서면 자연과 어우러진 유럽식 건축물인 토스카나 호텔이 오롯이 자리 잡고 있다. 토스카나 호텔은 공연계 최고 스타의 구상으로 만들어진 호텔답게 세미나동 뒤편엔 대형 스크린과 음향시설을 갖춘 야외공연장이 들어서 있다. 제주도의 느낌과 이국적인 공간을 갖춘 조경수와 최고급 인테리어로 품격을 갖춘 객실, 게다가 수영장을 겸비한 4동의 풀 빌라는 안락한 숙박환경과 철저한 프라이버시까지 보장한다. 

시아준수와 연관된 호텔이라는 이미지를 뛰어 넘어 전문 리조트의 면모를 갖춰야 할텐데 구상하고 있는 것이 있는가?

김창우 경영지원팀장: 시아준수뿐 아니라 제주라는 지역적인 특성도 뛰어 넘어야 한다. 토스카나는 제주도와 시아준수뿐 아니라 특별한 무엇인가를 가지고 있어야 한다. 그래야만 지속가능한 사랑과 관심을 받을 수 있다. 한류콘텐츠와 제주도의 특별한 이야기를 기반으로 어떻게 토스카나를 스토리텔링할 수 있을지 고민하고 있다. 이번에 토스카나가 발행하는 매거진 <더봄> 은 문화콘텐츠와 토스카나만의 특별한 스토리를 만들어 가려는 상징적인 실체라 할 수 있다.

토스카나 호텔 셰프의 추천 음식을 소개해 달라

윤영희 지배인: 맛과 멋이 어우러진 토스카나의 음식은 모두 맛있다. (웃음) 개인적으로 꼽자면 스파게티 종류를 추천한다. 여행에서 먹는 재미는 빼놓을 수 없는 즐거움이다. 토스카나는 찾아주시는 고객들을 위해 맛있고 정갈한 음식을 제공하기 위해 노력할 것이다.

Can you tell us what ‘Toscana’ means, and why you name the hotel as ‘Toscana Hotel’?

Kim: Toscana is a local city in Italy, which was the center of culture and art during the Europe Renaissance in the late medieval period. There remain the traces of Michelangelo, Boccaccio and Dante, and it was used as the background of the movie <Twilight> and other performances. People love Toscana. We name the hotel ‘Toscana Hotel’ as we hope that the dignity and art of Toscana, where long provided a stage for many artists, can be transported to the hotel.

 Is there any particular reason why you built the hotel in Jeju?

Yoon: As reported in media, the love of Junsu and his family for Jeju is so special. They have always wanted to have a place to rest. Once they traveled Jeju, they were fascinated by the mystique and beautiful atmosphere of Jeju Island. Junsu wanted to have special memories with his family and also with other people, so he opened the hotel. 

The every details of the interior design seem to be treated so carefully. What did you pay the most careful attention to in the hotel?  

Jung: Jeju Toscana Hotel is already special with the name ‘Jeju.’ As you walk through Mt. Halla, the ridge and the fields towards Toscana, you would be already attracted to the beauty of Jeju. When you walk along the stonewall walkway, you can finally meet the European style hotel building blended with the nature of Jeju. Toscana Hotel has an outdoor stage with a huge screen and sound systems behind the seminar complex as a hotel built by the best star and performer, Junsu, in performing art. The landscape together with Jeju’s own atmosphere and exotic space, the rooms with the top-notch interior design, and four complexes of Whole Villa with pools guarantee comfortable stay, and keep the privacy of guests thoroughly.  

What do you importantly ask for the staffs and employees of Toscana Hotel, or if you have any operational principals, what are they?

 

Kim: We want all employees to keep the principal ‘Basic things are important’ in their minds in every facility and service. They should prepare something which can move our guests, and by which our guests can have pleasant memories in Toscana Hotel. In order to achieve that, we need to provide comfort for our guests as if we welcome our old friends, and at the same time, we should be ready in mind as if we offer services for a president of a country. We hope that all our guests feel cozy and comfortable in Toscana Hotel, and have wonderful memories here. 

 

Please tell us the future goal of Toscana Hotel.

 

Kim: Toscana Hotel aims for becoming the Mecca centering of Hallyu, and we will always do our best to make the facilities and contents befitting the reputation as a boutique hotel. The best compliment to the hotel is that the guests who once visited the hotel want to visit there again. We will make Toscana Hotel as a hotel that everyone can recommend, and a hotel where everyone wants to visit whenever they can.  

 

Thank you for your time to talk to us today. Can each of you tell us how the guests can enjoy Toscana Hotel fully?

   

Jung: To take a walk along the trail in the woods of palm trees with gentle music on the background. 

Yoon: To taste delicious local foods of Jeju, to look around Jeju, and to fall in a sleep on the ‘the most comfortable bed’ in our hotel rooms. We hear from our guests so often that the bed mattresses of our rooms are so good and comfortable (laughing).     

Kim: Is it okay if I tell you once you come to Toscana Hotel? (laughing) First of all, I want you to feel Jeju Island, where the mountain and the sea and the peaceful sun-rising all blended together. The wind blowing along the ridge, the sunshine over the hills, and sometimes the haze covering the fields are just so romantic and wonderful in Jeju. By enjoying the real Jeju, you can also enjoy Toscana Hotel.
